During a time of economic recovery, sequestration and generally a tight job market some people tend question their next career move. Will I get that promotion, new business contacts or the high profile project? Or do I need to rethink my workplace strategies?
My parents’ generation usually stayed with an employer for most of their lives or around 30 to 40 years. Then they retired only to collect a modest pension. Rarely did they change roles or organizations. However, staying in one job without expanding your skills and knowledge will not help you achieve your professional goals.
Why? It is because people will experience zero professional growth when opportunities to expand their skills are overlooked or blocked. Sometimes professional development may come in the form of a manager’s assignment. Sometimes, people may become experts because they show initiative every single day and learn new marketable talents.
The Organizational Freelancer Blog offers a guide to engage you in a new work paradigm which will facilitate opportunities to work on amazing new projects; meet and collaborate with diverse new groups of people; while preventing the “work rut” from taking over your career. In addition, Organizational Freelancers arrive at work with initiative every day and look forward to working with new collaborators to produce new endeavors.
